Welcome To A Cool Nerd Blog

Updated: Jan 24, 2022

Growing up, I was always a fan of Video Games, Superheroes, and all things "nerdy", but I was afraid of how other people would view me if they knew about those interests. Video games weren't cool; hockey was cool, golf was cool, being athletic was cool. Don't get me wrong, I love all of those things, but my interests ran far deeper than just sports. I still get chills when I pull the Master Sword from the Temple of Time and still remember the cheer of the crowd when Captain America lifted Mjolnir in Endgame. Join me on this journey to becoming a Cool Nerd.

I grew up playing Super Mario Bros on NES, Pokemon Silver on GBC, Banjo-Tooie on N64, Wind Waker on Game Cube, GTA: San Andreas on PS2, Halo 3 on Xbox 360, and Fortnite on Xbox One. I have seen gaming evolve over my 29 years and it's been awesome to see just how far we've come. Gaming has become a little stale over the years with the Battle Royale genre absolutely dominating, but I feel 2022 will be a great year for gaming. I am most looking forward to Hogwarts Legacy, if it gets delayed again, I'm going to throw my controller against a wall. Do I miss the good old days? Absolutely. Am I excited for the future of gaming? Absolutely.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe started in 2008 with Iron Man and it has been shattering records ever since. The stakes have been rising in every Phase following the introduction of Thanos in The Avengers post-credit scene and the stakes continue to rise with the introduction of The Eternals and The Celestials. The introduction of Disney+ and the Marvel TV shows have been amazing in my opinion, I'm a sucker for all the MCU content no matter the quality, hell, I've even seen Thor: Dark World multiple times. Spider-Man: No Way Home was my favourite non-Avengers Marvel movie, largely due to nostalgia, but the way it was executed was incredible.

Obviously, I do have other interests as well. I'm a massive fan of the show Survivor, despite a lot of people disliking it, I have been watching since I was 8 and will continue to do so. I recently watched all Star Wars films for the first time and can say I will excitingly follow any new content released in the Star Wars universe. I think the show The Big Bang Theory made people more accepting of nerd culture and I really love that show, despite my wife making me change it every time I put it on.

Playing video games, the MCU and all things nerdy will always be close to my heart and are my true passions and I cannot wait to write about them here on A Cool Nerd blog.

This will be my first attempt at blogging and I am super stoked to be writing about what I'm truly passionate about. I am looking to write about my personal experience with gaming; reviews, top 10's, tips and tricks, and big gaming news, the Marvel Cinematic Universe; movie and Disney+ episode reviews, and up-to-date news. I have so much love for these topics and both are as huge now as they've ever been and I can't wait to share my opinions here on this blog.

I want this to be a safe space for all people to come where they aren't afraid to be themselves and truly follow what their passions are in life. I want to create a positive environment where people can share their opinions in the comments or with a forum post. I want to build a community of people who have the same passions as me and really have people to talk to about truly "nerdy" things, because honestly, I still don't have many people in my life that follow video games and the MCU as closely as I do. The last couple of years, I have stopped caring about what other people will think of me for liking certain things. Why should I be ashamed of liking something that isn't perceived as "cool"? It's 2022 and I believe the best time to be a nerd is now and there is no better time to "Embrace The Nerd".
